Characteristic

Characteristic

This chameleon lives from western Tanzania to central Africa.

The appearance characteristic is the crest on the back side and stomach side same as other Chamaeleo,

There is no flap at all, and it is connected smoothly from the face to the body as the English name.

How to identify between similar species

Similar to Chamaeleo Dilepis and Chamaeleo Gracilis, but can be distinguished by the lack of flaps.

Habitat

Speaking of Tanzania, it lives only the western part.

Because it can adapt to both wetlands and savannah, it seems to live anywhere.

In iNaturalist, there were observation records near Bukoba and Kigoma, but as far as I heard from the villagers in Bukoba where there is a record, they said that they don’t live. (Maybe it is simply a small number.) See the iNaturalist link for details.

Where to find

Like other chameleons, they are likely to be on tree branches about 1 to 3 meters above the surface.
